Miriam's Blessing Day

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we practice what is commonly called a baby blessing. Typically done at church, the father and other men with the priesthood gather in a circle, holding the baby in their hands. The father then offers a prayer in which the baby is given the name that they will be known by and a blessing pertaining to their life ahead. It is a special day. Typically, the baby is dressed in white, though it is not required.

My sister, Maria, has purchased the dresses for each of our baby girls. We were able to find good deals on amazon.com for Allie and Rachel, but we weren't having any luck this time. I then remembered that my sister-in-law makes blessing clothes and has her own etsy store. I mentioned it to Maria, and she then contacted Sharon. They worked out an arrangement so that Sharon made the dress and my sister compensated her for it. I was so grateful to both of them. The dress is so beautiful. It is perfect, and Miriam looked so precious in it.

This is how the dress was packaged. I was so excited to receive it.

We took A LOT of pictures, both before and after church. Church wasn't until 1:00 pm, so we had plenty of time. Miriam was a pretty good sport about it, though you can see that she did reach a breaking point.

Such a beautiful baby in a stunning dress.

We loved the headband, and she got so many compliments on it.

No more!

We then went and took pictures near the church. It was slightly windy, but they turned out pretty well. Thank you to Auntie Maria for being our photographer.

Cute shot of Allie.

Pretty little Miriam

We spotted a bullfrog near where we were taking pictures. Allie and Rachel got pretty excited about it. Almost every Sunday, they still (over a year later) mention when we saw the frog at the place next to the church.

Rachel and Allie with the church in the background.

We then went and tried to get a few pictures by the church. I think the two older girls were ready to be done.

Jared and Nikki - We don't get many of just us two anymore.

Her blessing was absolutely beautiful. It mentioned several times that she would be a good example to others, including her family. It also said that she'd have a beautiful smile that would help others feel the love of Heavenly Father. Jon, Maria's husband, was able to be there and stand in the circle. It was neat having some family there. Jon had a special experience that he shared with us in a written note. It was so sweet.

All tuckered out after church.

Next photo shoot!

I am still so grateful for the beautiful day of her blessing. Everything was wonderful.

For any who are interested, Sharon's etsy store is Cheery Groove Crafts. Her work is beautiful. She does blessing and christening clothing for both boys and girls. Her site is: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CheeryGrooveCrafts.
